We work with a wide range of clients across the industry, gaining a unique line of sight into the challenges faced. While the type of support differs for each client, it often includes:
Our people have run investment and trust businesses, and established and managed family offices, across private equity, real estate, hedge and listed funds. That experience shapes how we examine decisions and the records a board or trustee may later need to show.
Each appointment keeps responsibility with the named professional. When needed, we can draw on our directors and regulatory specialists, with confidentiality safeguards in place.
We bring unfettered judgement, backed by the experience to question proposals and examine the reasoning behind decisions. We bring a fiduciary perspective, challenge decisions and help the broader team work within its mandate. We work alongside family members and trusted advisers, helping them consider and record decisions.
Management of the assets and independent monitoring of performance may be delegated, however ultimate responsibility for all elements of the assets remains with the holder of the fiduciary powers. The duty to supervise and monitor is an absolute duty, and anyone acting
in a fiduciary capacity should therefore be able to clearly demonstrate:
As protectors, we act through the powers given in the trust instrument to ensure that the trustees act in the best interests of the beneficiaries, in line with the original intentions. Those powers may allow us to oversee or challenge specified trustee decisions without managing the trust day to day. When appointed as enforcers of a non-charitable purpose trust we remain separate from the trustee and oversee the actions of the trustee to ensure compliance with the trust’s stated purposes.
We work within the arrangements already in place and bring an independent view to them, rather than competing and automatically advocating change. We are agnostic as to systems and data providers. Where a review identifies a need to consider other providers, we can
build and coordinate a request for proposals.
